Is somatic education another term for mind/body exercise?

No. It is true that like mind/body forms of exercise, somatic training utilizes movement exercises in which a gentle, focused approach is practiced. However, unlike Yoga or Tai Chi, where the emphasis is on perfecting movement sequences and poses according to a particular esthetic, in somatic movement the emphasis is on the learning process. Movement provides the context, but the essential element of somatic training, the sine qua non, is that the lessons are really about learning to learn through movement.

Elizabeth A. Merriman (1967-2009), was our most beloved sister and daughter. Her contribution to Kinesthetic Edge, as our marketing and product design advisor, can be seen and felt on these pages and reflected in the quality of our products. We loved her. We will miss her. And we will strive always to honor her memory as we carry forward.
