About Pilates
Pilates is the most popular and widely known of the somatic methods. It focuses on developing core strength and flexibility. There are different approaches to teaching Pilates, from gentle and rehab focused to more strenuous methods that focus primarily on strengthening. At Kinesthetic Edge, we take the gentle route.
We believe that a body in balance moves with efficiency—using only as much effort as is needed to accomplish an action with ease and grace. This requires the ability to find the elements of mobility and stability inherent in all movement. If you are looking to enhance the quality of how you move, or to strengthen in a gentle, thoughtful, internally focused way, you will likely enjoy our particular approach to teaching this very beneficial method.
