Jump for Joy!™ First Steps in Dance Education for Ages 3 to 5
|
For the child who loves to dance around the house...
|
The Jump for Joy dance program aims to introduce children to the
joy of dance while providing a structured learning environment. A
series of 6-week sessions are organized around specific learning
objectives that will help your child develop motor, cognitive and
social skills.
Dance is one of the most natural and joyous ways for children to explore and develop creative expressiveness. The introduction of age appropriate dance exercises and games will serve as a touchstone for learning concepts such as body awareness, musical understanding, relationships to others, and self-expression.

Program Structure & Values...
|
Jump for Joy is structured a little differently than most dance school programs, which follow the school-year calendar. Studies in the psychology of learning and cognitive psychology indicate that layered learning experiences that allow children to review and rehearse newly attained skills and knowledge in multiple ways can dramatically increase retention.
Jump for Joy offers a modular 6-week format. Each module emphasizes a specific learning goal, but the overall structure of each class and the values we stress remain consistent and will be revisited multiple times and in multiple ways for each age group.

Learning Concepts are intertwined with values in Jump for Joy, as we strive to instill knowledge, skill and integrity in our students. We wish to make the experience fun and memorable, and one that calls upon each student to always do their best, have a positive attitude and be respectful of themselves and others. Instilling these values is at the heart of the learning your child will experience. Examples of some of the learning concepts covered in Jump for Joy include:
• Body Awareness • Relating to Others • Expressing Emotions • Musicality and Rhythm
